WHAT IS CHALCEDONY?

Chalcedony is a form of quartz that has a crystalline structure visible only when it's magnified. It's composed of very fine intergrowths of quartz and moganite (a clear mineral). Typically a waxy luster, Chalcedony can also be semitransparent or translucent. While it can form in a wide array of different colors, those most commonly seen are white to gray, gray blue, or a shade of brown ranging from pale to nearly black and typically have a milky look to them.
